Build from scratch
We build electric guitars and basses from scratch to fit the specific preferences of our costumers
Things to consider before ordering a custom build:
When you decide to order a custom build from scratch you are choosing your way to an instrument where almost everything is possible. It’s advisable to cover all the important aspects of your preference, regarding your playing style, desired sound and shape, in order to receive exactly what you dreamed off when finished.
Here we show you some of the most important aspects to consider, don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questing about any one of them or other.
Design:
Choose the design of the instrument defining every detail of the construction.
Scale – ex.(25’’ 25,5’’ 34’’etc...)
Pickups – how many, type and chape ex. (Single coils,
Humbuckers, P90 etc...)
Number of strings – ex.(4, 5, 6, 7)
Neck Join – Set neck, neck trough, screwed neck
Pickguard – yes or no, plastic, leather etc...
Electrics:
There are several possibilities in order to take advantage of the electric components used. I all depends of your personal taste.
Ex. Active or passive Pickups, number of pots, volume and tone, switch etc.
Hardware:
That’s one of the most important things and will play an important role in the overall quality of the guitar and its shape. The hardware will influence things like headstock shape or neck angle, as well as the tone. I mostly use Schaller hardware in my builds because of its excellence service and quality, but I will use any other brand on costumer request.
Tuners, bridge, String trees (if necessary), Neck screws (if necessary), Strap locks, frets (médium, Jumbo, or other)
Choosing the wood:
You will have to define what species to use on the body, neck, fingerboard, headstock and top (if necessary) considering your preferences on esthetics weight and others
Finish:
The finish defines a lot of the esthetics and protection of the instrument. We use mostly special oil finishes leaving the natural wood character showing. Thats of course my personal preference, but anything is possible and you decide what suits your taste better
Oil finishes, stains with several colors and nuances, clear coats with 2k clears etc...
Others:
Other important things to consider that will play a role on the end result
Bindings, inlays, Pictures, nut (bone, Grafite, metal)

ABOUT US
It all started back in 2012 when I decided to buy a new guitar. The budget was established and the search for the proper guitar began. After some days searching the web, I still wasn’t sure which guitar to buy. Along the way some videos from luthiers around the globe came up, explaining some of the processes regarding guitar building. Being already a hobbyist in wood handcraft, I believed I would be able to build my own guitar instead of buying a production one from the shelf. That’s how, “Angelina” (my mom’s name) my first build from scratch was born, as well as, the “Mariante* Guitars” project. My project is now giving the first steps and it’s based in a very simple formula, a small garage workshop by the house and lots of love in guitar building. My main goal is to build instruments that suit its player with all that is involved, where everything is chosen by the client. I also intend to build instruments with special meaning, connected to some specific event or with wood that carries history.
* Mariante – An homage to my father (a local musician, and composer) and our family name.
